I Love Youtube: Star Trek AdventureSo apparently from the early to mid-'90s at Universal Studios there was an attraction called the "Screen Test Home Video Adventure", right around where you line up now for the mummy ride. You and your lucky mom or younger brother would wear velcro-ed on Star Trek costumes and get shot standing in front of a blue screen, saying lines and reacting to various cues. A worker dude would then edit your footage into a specially-made episode of Star Trek, with you and your homely family in the roles of captain and security officer. You then had the option of buying the tape to take home, where it would sit for ten years until someone uploaded it to youtube. I love youtube.
All of these (or most) have the same preamble with Gene Roddenberry (watch for an exposed boom mic in some, weirdly), an apropos-of-not-much interactive lecture about acting with Shatner and Nimoy, and then a crazy, stilted and just powerfully f**king awesome adventure.
We're just three dudes with moustaches, having fun at Universal Studios. What? What is it? What's wrong with that
The Kappa Kappa Gamma girls take the Enterprise out for a spin:
Stoic Grandma gives a solid performance. What was she thinking? Was she happy? Was she worried about performing? Such boundless depths to plumb:
Two of my favourites, Joerg and Margit. The comedy of awkwardness a full decade before "The Office".
This one's older, maybe? Way higher production values, certainly. The rock battle is… transcendent.
