Hot Docs & Blue Ice Film buy Bloor CinemaIt may not end up having two restaurants in the lobby or a museum on an upper floor like TIFF's new theatre complex down on King Street, but Hot Docs, Toronto's other best film festival, announced today that they've secured a venue of their own. ![]() Hot Docs and Blue Ice Film have partnered to purchase the iconic Annex landmark from Carm Bordonaro, who had managed the Bloor since 1999 before purchasing it in 2010. The iconic Bloor Cinema, home historically to probably thousands of screenings of The Rocky Horror Picture Show as well as the After Dark Film Festival and the Toronto Jewish Film Festival is currently under renovation. According to Hot Docs and Blue Ice, the theatre will reopen in the fall with improved seating and sound, with a programming focus on documentary screenings including the festival's "Doc Soup" series.
