I Love YouTube: Gordon Ramsay

Mythologist and writer Joseph Campbell influenced generations of filmmakers and authors with his works - most notably The Hero with a Thousand Faces - that traced the commonalities in various cultural myths separated by geography and time. He found that there were many shared elements and ideas to the narratives that different civilizations have constructed, and linked those back to Carl Jung's archetypes, detailing the actions of the global Hero (Luke Skywalker, Beowulf), the Trickster (Loki, the Native American Coyote God), the Wise Old Man (Yoda, Merlin) and others.

One of Jung & Campbells least explored archetypes is the Huge Ass Hole Who Is Rude As Shit, A Lot. Examples from mythic history include the Dick Hole God (a character in many Native American foundational myths that shows up periodically to rub his turds on people for no reason) and, more recently, celebrity television chef Gordon Ramsay.

I haven't done any even cursory research into his personal history, so as far as I know, he is a person that was a chef and then someone noticed that he was a perfect Huge Ass Hole Who Is Rude As Shit, A Lot, and decided to put him on television, again, a lot. It was a really good decision by that person, because watching a Huge Asshole on television is occasionally really fun, because a neat part of human nature is that we really enjoy strong powerful people crushing weak idiots, because it makes us feel powerful, vicariously.

For example, here Gordon Ramsay is really rude to a person whom he holds a lot of power over. The best part is how he and the TV show itself treat the person's meek protestation at being treated Rudely As Shit as if he were spraypainting God's face with your floppy weiner hanging out of your pants while you call him a bitch:

Classic! And hilarious!

In this clip, Gordon Ramsay is asked to help turn things around at a French restaurant for his television show "Kitchen Nightmares". This is a show where restaurant owners are encouraged to invite the Huge Asshole Who Is Rude As Shit, A Lot into their personal space, so that he can call them horrible names and physically intimidate them. Then he throws their food in the garbage, and then he single handedly turns things around!

Ha ha! That stupid French pig was such an idiot, trying to defend himself from a psychotic ass hole in his own restaurant. Didn't he realize that the Huge Ass Hole was famous and there to help him by screaming at him and calling him a c**t? What a French pig. Ramsay is benificent: he's not screaming at you because he likes it or because it makes him famous and rich to cause people pain, it's because if he does it enough, you will have a good restaurant, and be successful, bitch.

For example, in this clip, Ramsay invites a person onto his television show set and lets him get his face on the TV! Then he calls his food "shit", and everyone laughs, because the person is stupid, and their food is probably shit. If you look closely, you can see the exact moment that the person realizes they have forfeited their dignity. It's at about 1:17.

Of course, Ramsay as the archetypal Huge Ass Hole isn't all sharp angles... he has a softer side. It's the side that motivates him to help these stupid idiot donkeys by berating them and making them look bad on TV, a side that is apparent in this clip:

Here you have the full Ramsay profile: the creepy, angry, powerful person that hugs you while simultaneously shouting "RELAX, RELAX" into your ear. His idea of a funny joke is to like his wife's cooking while also calling it, and her, ugly and unremarkable. Ha ha! Isn't that great? He's great, and I'm glad he's on TV calling strangers bitches, a lot, because their chicken is weird looking.
