Photos: M. Night Shyamalan’s After Earth

M. Night Shyamalan’s career hit a major low with 2010's The Last Airbender, a film that even Shyamalan apologists (like yours truly) didn’t really like. However, the director is bouncing back - he's leaving the world of cartoon adaptations behind and returning to somewhat familiar territory with his new sci-fi film After Earth. It stars Will and Jaden Smith as a father and son who crash land on Earth 1000 years after it was abandoned by humans (a set-up not unlike Smith's I Am Legend).

Some photos have finally surfaced from the After Earth set which give us an idea of what the film will look like. One behind-the-scenes photo shows a very grey (in both hair and clothing) Will Smith while another features Jaden in skin-tight futuristic space garb...

Since I still have some respect for Shyamalan (despite The Last Airbender), I’ll refrain from making any sarcastic comments about what kind of twist he's gonna throw in but I will say this much: my interest, at least, has peaked and I look forward to checking out After Earth, to be released in 2013.
