Prepare Yourselves for an Insidious Sequel

It is being reported that screenwriter Leigh Whannell and director James Wan have started working on a sequel to their horror hit Insidious. The spooky, low-budge hit debuted as part of Midnight Madness at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival before being released wide enough to haul in over a hundred million bucks (not bad for a film that was made for only $1.5 million).

The fact that they are making a sequel to a horror film is not all that surprising, since horror is genre that is no stranger to films getting sequelled, and sequelled, and sequelled, more often than not to death. Case in point would be the pair's own breakout film Saw, which kept out churning out yearly sequels well past its expiration date. While Insidious’ ending definitely left some room for continuation, I - from a pure fan's perspective - kind of liked the way the film ended and would probably prefer it stay a stand-alone film. Of course, I don’t get to decide these things do I?
