"No" means "No" for These Three StarsIt's "just say no" week among A-level leading men, apparently: among this week’s bits of casting news are a handful of denials from three mega-actors who will not be appearing in a few franchise-friendly sci-fi reboots. Harrison Ford, who was recently cast in the upcoming Ender’s Game movie, is apparently not in talks to star in the very-much-in-development Blade Runner reboot. According to producer Andrew Kosove (The Blind Side, The Book of Eli, Dude, Where’s My Car?), rumours that Ford may star are “absolutely patently false.” That being said, the filmmakers and studio haven’t actually decided on what the movie will be about, if it’s going to be a sequel, a remake, or a prequel (or mystery option D? seprequel? reboost? sequamake?), so any talks about casting are pretty pointless at this point. Meanwhile, another movie about a futuristic cop—no, not Judge Dredd, the other one, RoboCop—will not be starring Russell Crowe, who recently took to Twitter to deny rumours that he would be starring in the 2013 remake of the original 1987 movie (in between his regular workout updates he provided a very concise response here.) However, he will be starring in Darren Aronofsky’s (Requiem for a Dream, The Fountain, Black Swan) biblical movie, Noah, so at least we’ll get to see him kick butt in tha—wait, what’s that story about again? Last, but not least, Daniel Radcliffe denies rumours that he might play the lead role in the oft-speculated Doctor Who movie from four-time Harry Potter director David Yates. (Because if you’re a British actor, you’re bound to be connected to the long-running BBC series eventually.) In a video interview with Digital Spy while promoting his new horror movie The Woman in Black, Radcliffe seemed shocked at the suggestion and said, “They don’t need me. I would never presume to jump into somebody else’s franchise.” We have to agree with Radcliffe. One massive British franchise per actor sounds more than fair.
