Teens 'n' Tweens: Beauty and the Beast 3D

thesubstream: What movie did you see?

Amanda: Beauty and the Beast 3DDDDDDDD.  Omg. Omg. So cool. I was 6 when this came out! Well, the first time it came out, in two dimensions.

tss: What was it about?

A: Don’t be so vain, you vain rich handsome people! Be nice! Then people will like you and not bewitch your whole castle and turn all your servants into teapots and clocks.

Something about judging books and their covers? Probs don’t do it or whatever. Especially if the book is a sorceress.

tss: What happens in the movie?

A: There’s this asshole prince who is a total d**k to a witch so she turns him into a THE BEAST until someone loves him. That’s the back story.

Ok so then Belle is the town weirdo cause she reads books and doesn’t care about hot dudes, but she’s also the town hottie? Idk, this grody dude Gaston wants to marry her I guess and he’s totally gross but has a really thick neck and big muscles so he thinks she should just be dropping her panties at his feet. UGH. She hates him (rightly so, ew Gaston am I right?!).

 

Her dad is weird too and makes some crazy invention (an axe) and gets lost on his way to try and sell it and winds up at this crazy castle. A talking candlestick invites him inside, BUT THEN THE BEAST shows up and is like “I’m a jerk so you are my prisoner”.  Then Belle comes to rescue him and takes his place FOREVERRRRRR.

So then the candlestick and teapot try to teach THE BEAST to be nice to Belle and he’s crazy mean to her instead until he saves her life and then she likes him. And they dance and Gaston stabs THE BEAST and Belle cries and says she loves him and then he turns handsome and everyone dances as Angela Lansbury sings.

tss: What was the message?

A: I’m kinda conflicted on this one, cause SO MUCH is good. Being smart is awesome even if everyone laughs at you? Good. Don’t dislike someone cause they are crazy looking? Good! Don’t settle for a life you don’t want? Great!

But then if just wanders back to the whole idea of even if a guy is a HUGE D**K and is just so mean for no reason, if you are “the one” he’ll change. Which… come on now. Though I guess it is a Disney cartoon from the 90’s sooooo… ok it’s pretty good mostly.

tss: Did the 3D make it any better?

A: Ummm sorta? It certainly made it more 3d’er. I did like how I could really see how lazy the animators used to be about background people, and stuff like- fingernails and teeth appearing and disappearing. It was cool I guess.

tss: What was the best part?

A: Maybe the fact that I remembered almost every word of every song? HAHA I’M COOL.

Also that there were lots of mums with 6 year olds there and that made my heart feel good.

tss: What was the worst part?

A: Not being able to sing along.

tss: Is it good for teens and tweens out there to watch?

A: UHHH YEAH!!! Totally worth it!
