Terry Crews Says PG-13 Rating for The Expendables 2 Necessary

A little background: rumours stated a couple weeks ago that The Expendables 2, the sequel to the not-quite-as-awesome-as-you’d-hoped-but-better-than-you-feared all-star action flick, was going to be rated… PG-13.  The reasoning for this, apparently, was that Chuck Norris (last seen in a commercial for World of Warcraft) did not approve of all the vulgar language that was in the script for the film (funny how he did not seem concerned about the death, dismemberment and massive heaps of other assorted violence).  This was later confirmed by Sly Stallone himself and that was that.

Now, in the latest development of this story, former footballer Terry Crews was interviewed about the new rating and he said that the rating was necessary because, and I quote, “the kids bought tickets to Eat, Pray, Love and walked right into The Expendables. In fact, they were YOUR kids. I get it. I really do. But boobs and blood do not a good movie make. You don't want to go. Don't go.”

Right off the hop it’s a weird and kind of funny bit of inadvertent self-deprecation, as his big scene from the first flick involved him using an AA-12 shotgun to turn a bunch of men into Swiss cheese:

And second – kids want to sneak into restricted movies because they’re a) violent, b) have boobs in them and c) are restricted. That’s a universal truth of early adolescent male film-fandom. Will kids like a PG-13 Expendables? Who knows. Will we? Not freakin' likely.
