thesubstream BEAT: Oct. 24 2011Hey all!
Tara here and we've decided to switch up thesubstream BEAT and do an awesome weekly blog instead, because Rajo started "crying" and "barfing" and "crybarfing" in the edit suite as we heaped more and more footage onto him, so for now and the foreseeable future, Mike and I have decided to make this a Text Only Joint.
The past few days - as I'm sure you've know if you have checked out our site - we have been covering the Toronto After Dark Film Festival and I personally have been having a blast. Horror is by far my favourite movie genre and to attend a film festival dedicated to solely horror (and one Anime movie) is incredibly cool. So. This week we have tons of stuff coming up for you including MORE Toronto After Dark coverage along with our weekly awesomeness that include:
MAMO's guide to the TIFF Bell Lightbox. What's the deal with that mysteriously white huge aseptic Design Master theatre on King St.? Matt Brown and Matt Price are going to show you the down low on the venue.
On Tuesday we've got a brand new DVD/Blu Ray Shed and we will be talking about Captain America: The First Avenger, Attack The Block (which I'm pretty excited to pick up), The Conversation, Criterion: Dazed and Confused, another Criterion flick: Island of Lost Souls and last but not least just in time for Hallowe'en, Zombie!
Ever wanted to set up a hidden camera and scare someone? Well, on this weeks I Love YouTube is a Hallowe'en edition where we will be showing you some of our favourite hilarious videos of people getting the shit scared out of them. Watch out for that on Thursday.
As for New Releases, we've got Anonymous - the weird Shakespeare is Fake movie - as well as In Time, Puss 'N Boots and The Rum Diary. Don't forget to check our site for some 2 Minute Critics and Watch This Instead for those ones, so you can pick your weekend entertainment with knowlege aforehaved.
For all of your aspiring horror film makers, The Film Lab will be showing you how to properly light fog, rain and smoke! This one's going to be real good so don't miss it! We missed doing it last week because Mike got sick, after an ill child coughed germs directly down his throat last weekend. But he's fine now. We will also be updating our building a dolly project and the CBC complaint log so keep checking back for those as well.
That's what we're got coming up so make sure to check back daily for new content and keep sending tweets, facebook comments our way and sign up to our forum to talk to fellow movie fans and aspiring filmmakers!
See you next week! Same Bat-time, same Bat-channel.
