You are TOO LATE to see Red State at the Toronto Underground Cinema

If you were still unsure whether or not to shell out $50 for tickets to Kevin Smith’s road-show screening of Red State, then, well... you are out of luck. The sold-out screening and subsequent Q&A with the ever-frank, ever-funny Smith is happening next Monday night at the Toronto Underground Cinema. We're not bragging - we didn't get tickets either (blame a new baby in the Zakic household) but it behooves us (that's two separate behoofs, by the way) to congratulate the folks at the T.U.C. for doing cool stuff well.

If you’ll remember: at this past South By Southwest festival-thing in Austin, Smith himself very publicly purchased the rights to distribute his own film for one measly dollar. And instead of having his movie screened in regular theatres in major cities like a normal person/multinational film distribution conglomerate he has decided to forge a new-ish path and take his movie on the road, much in the spirit of guys like uh... P. T. Barnum, I guess? Either way, the always entertaining Kevin Smith will present the film and field any questions from the audience - of which there are sure to be many considering the man’s loyal fanbase.

Admission for the event was $50, and if you shelled out $70, you get a DVD of the movie to keep for your very own. Not elite enough for you? Pay $80 and you ALSO get special VIP seating. Oooooohhhhhh!

The sold-out event is just another notch on the bedpost for our pals at the Toronto Underground Cinema, who later on this month are also hosting an event featuring Freddy Krueger himself Robert Englund. WHICH IS SUPER FREAKIN’ COOL! Tickets, as of this writing, are still available. I think.
