Project: Cry Bitch Complain: The Grey Doom Clouds of the CBCI've listened to the CBC on the radio for years. CBC One - the big one - none of your Broken Social Sceney music chat of CBC Three for this cat. But I can't listen to it anymore. No more. I don't know if I've changed (although it's probably more likely) or if CBC radio has, but I've been noticing - a lot - in the past few months that it seems like... well, it seems like all anybody does on that station is complain. They cry, moan, bitch, call down clouds of bloody doom and torment. They detail, for example, from a half hour or so I spent driving and listening yesterday, the ins-and-outs of why when your husband kidnaps and rapes two women you as his spouse are also a victim. Their constant stream of negativity is doing my god damn head in, and I honestly don't know if it's just me that finds it weird, or if it even exists at all. So I've devised an experiment. At random intervals throughout the day, I am going to turn on CBC radio one, and count the seconds until someone says something negative - some small examination of an injustice small or large, some reportage about a murder or rape in a land near or far, and then I am going to turn it off, and keep track of how long it takes to reach that negativity threshhold each time. I'll post my results in the updates section.
