Project: Mike's great DSLR adventureSo I managed to get my mitts on a new Canon 60D, which has replaced my non-video-capable Rebel XTi and has ushered me, kind of kicking (twitching, maybe?) and screaming (meeping? mumbling bitterly?) into the weird world of DSLR filmmaking. The world where Canon, a company that makes $4k video cameras (the XH A1, which we shoot most of our video content on) that in some specific circumstances underperform the video put out by still cameras that cost 75% less and shoot video only as a side-benefit. I'm new to this world. As somebody that owned said $4k + videocamera, I've been annoyed to the point of curmudgeondom by how good the footage people were getting out of their DSLRs looked. But, well, now that I've got the equipment, I might as well try and get the most out of it. In this project I'll be detailing, for anyone that is interested at all, my journey into proper DSLR filmmaking. I've got a D60 and a pretty versatile (but not particularly fast) zoom, so lets see what this can do!
