The V.I.D.A.D.I.F.H. Show: Lars von Trier

Since screening at Cannes earlier this year Lars von Trier's Melancholia has generated a fair bit of buzz among critics and festival goers the world over. With its theatrical release almost upon us, what better time for The Film Lab to delve into this brilliant iconoclast's career? MAMO's resident smarty-pants Matthew Price returns to the musty Film Lab library to bring you yet another edition of the Very Important Dudes and Dudettes in Film History, this time with a sharp focus on one of the most unique personalities working in film today. Take a few moments and learn about von Trier's early work, his influence and take note because there might be some films mentioned that you haven't seen... Most are available for rent or purchase, and if you're in Toronto over the next month or two you can see highlights of his ouevre on the big screen courtesy of a retrospective organized by the fine folks at the TIFF Bell Lightbox (Starts tonight, November 9!).
